Kasese District Local Government awarded Edrine K a certificate of appreciation for her work advocating for the rights of girls and women in Kasese, specifically for her use of creative arts & media to advance equitable education access for girls and the elimination of harmful cultural practices like child marriages.
This was on July 31, 2024, at Kasese District Multipurpose Hall where the district leadership and civil society organizations had gathered to commemorate the day of the African Child 2024. The day was celebrated under the theme, ” Education for all children in Africa: The time is now!”
While handing her the award, the Kasese District Resident District Commissioner Lt. Joe Walusimbi, commended Ms. Edrine K for having answered her generational call to contribute to society as early as age 18. He said that some people wait until late into their lives to start doing positive acts to better their communities and that what Edrine was doing was an inspiration not just to the young people of Kasese, but to every right-thinking member of the Kasese community.
